    Abstract

From 1989 to 2003, Liberia was rocked by civil war. Most works in the area of peace and conflict studies that discuss this conflict focus on elite political or military history. Instead, this focuses on how average people sought to find and create safety and peace during the war. It focuses on travel, food insecurity, and traditional religious, spiritual, and ceremonial practices, relying on oral history sources.
