Listening to multitudes : confronting the human-nature divide through sound

Listening to Multitudes presents sound as a radical tool to reconfigure human-nature relations by subverting the Western separation of humans from nature and building an integrative, interspecies, aural worldview. Through physics, history, environmental and perception theory, personal essays, and original music, this thesis explores how sound can reunite us with other species and the world around us, promoting ethical concern for the environment.
