Abstract
I seek to examine weight-loss culture, primarily as it affects young women. I have conducted a study of recent, female alumni from Sun Pines, a residential weight-loss summer camp. Using in-depth, semi-structured interviews, I explore the lived experiences of 15 young women who have spent significant periods of their lives in an attempt to gain control over their stigmatized bodies, constructing their identities in that struggle.
