Abstract
This thesis partners the short story form with the young adult genre in an exploration of a particular place: the remote, rural town of Sequim on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula. Through various characters and stories, this collection examines the experience of navigating adolescence and trying to take root in oneself in a terrain and community that is at once impossibly stunning and incredibly difficult.
