Abstract
"Estranged" is a collection of fictional stories that explore new territories of American nature writing. It includes stories about predatory behavior between humans. The stories question and examine the relationships between "human predation" and interspecies predation. There is emphasis on human and non-human agencies and the influence of environment on its inhabitants. The collection is concluded with an academic essay discussing the theory, research, and planning that went into forming the stories.
